2017 Gathering&Hunt: License & other important info

You can purchase your KS hunting license online and print it out at home.  If you can do this, I recommend it as it will save you time.  You will see a statement that anyone born after July 1, 1957 needs to provide proof that they have taken Hunter’s Education training.  If you do not have your HE card and number (and most of us don’t) there is a line in the application that you can click that states “I attest…..” in which you are attesting that you have indeed taken the HE course.   Clicking this allows you to go ahead and purchase the license without a HE card number.

I will also mention that in Kansas you can hunt turkeys with dogs during the upland season.  So if your dog points a turkey it is legal to shoot it IF you have purchased a turkey tag along with your license.  Mike shoots a couple turkeys this way each year and there are turkeys in the region where we will be hunting.  In my 4 years here I have not yet shot a turkey but have seen him do so, it’s quite a hoot to see it happen over a point.  Challenging retrieve though.  lol

The lodge also provides this important info:

• Cell phone service is limited at the lodge, unless US Cellular is your provider. A land line is available for your use if needed.
• WiFi is available
• Note that Google Maps will route you to a different location.  Scattered Acres is located EAST of Palmer.  From Palmer exit proceed 1/4 mile north on Hwy 15. Turn right onto 5th road, go 1 mile east.  Lodge is located south of 5th road.
